Syros boasts a glorious history, formerly the capital of Greece and a thriving port, which meant it was also home to many of Greece's most illustrious ship-owner families. In Ermoupolis, the main town, you will find an airport, hospital, many shops, restaurants, bars, a casino, lovely neo-classical architecture. There is a beautiful waterfront promenade with a number of wonderful restaurants and tavernas, accented by the many luxury private yachts moored steps away from the promenade. Cyclades, Syros Island. Villa Poseidon, estate property with 7 bedrooms, (5 double and 2 twin bedded) 6 bathrooms, sleeps max of 12. Only 200 meters to sandy beach, on a promontory with panoramic sea views. The property has a large private (sea water) swimming pool with pool house, sea views from most every room and balcony, footsteps to the water, and is set on extensive gardens and lawns, (property size of 20,000 sqm.) with fig, palm and pine trees, bougainvillea and rosebushes. Enjoy the renowned Cycladic sea and sunshine, perched atop a hill, overlooking the nearby sea from the many large terraces and balconies, bay windows and especially from the large, mosaic tiled pool, (additional cooking with oven and BBQ). Large flagstone patio, with barbecue. The property has a low fence wall, with an iron gate entrance, and the large grounds provide lots of areas for relaxation and pleasant walks. This wonderful Mediterranean property is made up of 2 buildings: On the 1st tier of the land, is the 2 story main house. INTERIOR: 4 double bedrooms, 2 of the bedrooms (each with ensuite bathrooms are upstairs and 2 bedrooms are downstairs (1 has an ensuite bathroom). All bedrooms in the main house are air-conditioned. On the ground floor there is a large open living room with panoramic windows, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Large verandas, where you can enjoy sea views, surround the villa. And you can watch the sunsets on the wooden veranda which is furnished with bamboo couches and armchairs. Amenities include TV, DVD, internet. On the upper tier of the land, set below the main house, are 2 apartments, Interiors: one with 2 double bedrooms, living/dining room, kitchenette and wc/shower and the other apartment with 1 twin bedded bedroom, living room, kitchen, wc/bath tub, both with sea view verandas. The sea water pool is 15 x 7m, 1m depth in the shallow end and 3m in the deep end, overlooking the sea, with built-in stone tables and chairs, outdoor shower, a built-in barbecue and oven and a beautiful pool house. Close to the swimming pool is a chapel, which has a ceremony on July 7 of each year. DISTANCES: The estate is located 7 miles from the capital of Syros, Ermoupolis, 1 1/2 miles from nearest small center, 500 meters from nearest super market, 200 meters from the nearest taverna. 100 meters from the sea, 200 meters from Komito sandy beach and 500 meters from Agathopes sandy beach. By ferry, 2 1/2 to 4 hours from the port of Piraeus at Athens, or 30 minutes from Athens by plane. Security deposit 20% of rent. The rent includes some maid service 3 times per week, cost of electricity, air-conditioning. On request, cook can be arranged. Car necessary. Caretaker couple live on property in a separate apartment, with its own separate entrance. However, they can move offsite, if you want full privacy. Rents shown are for max occupancy of 12. Set on the lovely island of Syros, in the Cyclades lies this luxurious gated private estate in the most prestigious area of charming Syros (once the capital of Greece), near the seaside and amongst some of the finest mansions and estates in the Greek islands. This idyllic and very private estate includes an historical and very elegant neoclassical manor house (originally constructed by a Greek shipowner in the 1830's and recently fully renovated), along with separate guest houses in the guest annex, pool house, large (12 x 6 mt) private swimming pool, fish pond, patios & verandas all set amongst large (3000 sq. mt) lushly, lovingly cared for well-tended grounds, including patios, verandas, bbq areas, outdoor dining/lounging areas -- all gated and thoroughly private. The owner is a well-known Greek archaeologist and the homes, grounds and gardens have been lovingly renovated and cared for with special attention to detail and throughout the villa you will find valuable antiques and period pieces alongside all the modern conveniences. INTERIOR: The dusty rose neoclassical manor house/main residence is 240 sq. mt two-story neoclassical villa (4 bdrms) which includes a foyeur, a glass enclosed conservatory ideal for looking out at the lovely landscaped grounds, main sitting/living room (tv, dvd, stereo), main dining room, fully-equipped kitchen (refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, washing machine), and guest bathroom, and a twin bedroom w/ ensuite bathroom on the ground floor, all of which boasts Greek marble flooring. Upstairs there are hardwood floors, three more bedrooms, including the large master bedroom. and each bedroom has ensuite bathroom done in white marble and its own private access to lovely, spacious balconies with views of the grounds and striking nearby small blue-domed picturesqe church. The villa is stylishly well-decorated and boasts many antiques and lovely exclusive pieces. THE GUEST ANNEX: Set 50 meters apart through the landscaped grounds lies the guest annex, which consists three separate self-contained private units all sharing a large veranda which looks out to the fountain and the swimming pool. The first apartment can sleep four people and has a twin bedroom w/ ensuite bathroom and open plan living room/kitchen area with two built in sofa beds. The second apartment has a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and the third apartment is a studio with open plan kitchenette, twin bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The apartments also are comfortably furnished, air-conditioned and all have wood beam ceilings and hand-made terracota tiles. There is also separate guest studio with twin beds and ensuite bathroom and private studio 20 sq. mt. private studio in the large poolhouse (twin bedded with ensuite bathroom). GROUNDS/EXTERIOR: Set on lovely, well tended ground of 3000 sq. mt, the very private (no one overlooks them and they entire estate is walled and gated) lush grounds include the large (12 x 6 mt) private swimming pool, fountain, and fish pond, as well as pine, palm and fruit trees for abundant shaded areas and lovely flower beds and gardens well taken care of by the permanent gardener. There is also a large outdoor bbq area and many shaded terraces and numerous outdoor dining and lounging areas, both for sunning and shade-covered dining al fresco and there are abundant seating areas and furnished lounging/dining areas. LOCATION: The villa is perched just at the edge of Possidonia (Dellagrazio) (7 miles from the main town of Hermoupoulis (once the capital of Greece) and the estate is just a short walk (500 mt) to some of the islands finest beaches, some shops and authentic seaside tavernas and small private yacht harbor. This wonderful and very private estate is a perfect private getaway for large families or groups.
